Being in the change management domain for decades, Sheila Fain, the CEO at LaMarsh Global, understands all its nuances and changing facets. “The market is becoming savvier about the fact that change management is far more than a standard communication and training plan,” Sheila adds. And rightly so, organizations today understand why they have had challenges with acceptance and adoption of changes in the past and are looking for an approach that is comprehensive in assessing and mitigating those specific risks. That’s where LaMarsh Global comes in.

LaMarsh Global was founded in 1979, offering leadership development with a focus on leading change. “The Managed Change methodology was formally introduced as our standard practice about eight years later, making us one of the early founders of the practice of change management,” says Sheila. The company has been a thought leader in the change management space ever since—whether that is at the table developing and revising the standards for change management with its peers or sharing its knowledge and best practices. Over 40 years later, LaMarsh Global continues to learn and evolve to serve its clients even better. “We also offer a wide range of solutions for clients. Whether clients need training, mentoring, coaching, and resources to lead or support their change management strategy or they want to build change capability in their organization, we can tailor a solution to meet our clients where they are,” Sheila adds.

At its core, LaMarsh Global offers a comprehensive Managed Change Model that has been developed with a focus on the people affected by the change, their leaders, and an understanding of the critical success factors for change. The model is used to proactively uncover the specific risks to acceptance and adoption and create actions to mitigate those risks for which organizational leaders are the key.

While our Managed Change methodology is comprehensive, we recognize that not every effort requires the use of the entire methodology with the same intensity

“While our Managed Change methodology is comprehensive, we recognize that not every effort requires the use of the entire methodology with the same intensity,” mentions Sheila. That’s why the data gathered during the initiation activities and the results of the initial risk and readiness assessment drive the development of the change management strategy and scope and scale of the approach.

Through its Managed Change Model, LaMarsh Global recently supported a client with a multi-year ERP implementation at their global locations. During the initiation assessment with the C-Suite, LaMarsh Global learned that seven years prior, they had implemented the same solution at one location, and it was universally considered a disaster. Digging below that surface, the experts at LaMarsh Global realized that it was less about the solution itself and more about how the implementation was managed as well as how the technology was being used or not being used for the past seven years. LaMarsh Global set to work to uncover all of the other relevant risks and partnered with the project team and solution vendor to develop a change management strategy and plan based upon Managed Change. Finally, the company was able to develop a solid decision-making structure with clear roles and responsibilities and worked directly with leaders throughout the organization. “Our strong client partnership was the key to success. There were many risks to overcome both for the project team and the change management team. The payoff came in the first few days after the system went live when one of the shop floor supervisors characterized it as a non-event,” adds Sheila.

LaMarsh Global has been successful over the years due to its capability to listen to clients and evolve according to their needs. This was best reflected in mid-April of this year when the company announced enhancements to their Managed Change Model. “Our approach is to use the skills and capabilities that fit the situation. Not that one tactic is right or wrong. Sometimes we need to coach, sometimes we need to advise, and occasionally we need to tell. We are stronger when we can assess the situation and come to the table with a variety of skills and tools,” concludes Sheila.
